The business world has, is, will change. Change, as they say, is the only constant. This year is looking to be no different. With inflation pressure imminent, most notably in the form of increases to National Insurance and the minimum wage, businesses of all sizes will face new challenges in the year ahead. No doubt, you’re asking what you can do about it? What can you change? What do you have to do to find enduring success in this climate?
The one thing you shouldn’t do is nothing at all.
Stagnation is the Enemy of Growth
You need to embrace a mindset of embracing change and facing challenges head on. Being proactive, chasing after that next goal, being hungry for growth, not complacent. Stability leads to stagnation, as safe as it may feel in the moment. It keeps you behind while your competitors and peers race forward, adapting to the ever-evolving needs of their client base.
From new social media channels, the rise of AI, shifting SEO best practices, new laws, inflation, tax changes, business rate increases….it can all seem relentless. The trick is in being aware of what will help you, and what will waste your resources.
But….Don’t Waste Time Chasing Everything
Focus and planning is the key. Know what you must change, decide on what will help your processes, and ignore what won’t benefit you. While ignoring the greater environment and its trends sparks a death knell, running after all options won’t put you in a better position. Legal requirements aside, it’s crucial to understand your own weaknesses and where the most urgent improvements can be made. Need to refine your workflow? Perhaps look at AI tools to supplement your processes.
Not reaching the right audience? Look at social media trends and tweak your current output. Find out where your industry operates, where migrations are happening. Predominantly market to a US audience? TikTok may be banned (stay tuned!), so new channels may be emerging that capitalise on this change.
